Part Four of 'George Lamb versus Music' sees our intrepid BBC 6Music radio DJ take on one of Canada's finest indiepop exports, Tokyo Police Club. The band's punchy 'A Lesson In Crime' EP was one of my favourite records of last year and while the full LP follow up ('Elephant Shell') hasn't quite lived up to the earlier tour de force, it's still an enjoyable forage into indie pop/rock.
Taking on 'In A Cave' from the new album and 'Nature Of The Experiment' from the EP, we find Tokyo Police Club in fine fettle, juxtaposing the pulsating nature of The Strokes and the quirkiness of Sonic Youth. Although it seems a bit weird to be playing 'Nature Of The Experiment' due to its age but I guess that bassline is still killer.
TOKYO POLICE CLUB - NATURE OF THE EXPERIMENT (BBC 6MUSIC SESSION)//MIRROR
'Be Good', from the 'A Lesson In Crime' EP has recently been remixed by André RAC, which you can download over at [RCRD LBL]. Speaking of remixes, TPC have offered their own twist on fellow Canadians The Coast. The Coast tread similar water to Tokyo Police Club but with a bit more fuzz, and TPC have stripped down the MGMT-esque 'Tightrope'. The original is definately worth a listen and The Coast are a band to keep on the radar.
Buy 'A Lesson In Crime' and 'Elephant Shell' (the double album's only 9 quid) on the cheap from [Memphis Industries].

isn't George Lamb that one who's doing Big brother's Little Brother now? poor bloke.
The RAC remix you linked to is the TPC song "Be Good" off the EP, not "Your English Is Good"
thanks for the correction, i'm not sure what I was thinking at the time!
